In halo, under settings, then audio setup, there are two things that I cannot toggle. They are environmental sound and hardware acceleration. I cannot change these settings as their options are greyed out and I wonder exactly what I've missed out on. Are they anything important and how can I use them?
-
As long is I remember, it will toggle.. well yeah, environmental sounds. Like echoes in tunnels, caaaaveees, and well. Stuff like that D:

What I mean is the game will not allow me to change the settings for environmental sounds which lead me to believe that there must be some kind of deficiency in my computer. Anyway, how does it affect the gameplay in a multiplayer setting? What was important to me was understanding if there was any significant advantage in having the option turned on.

Thanks for the link. Even though I installed it, it did not enable the environmental sound option. This may have something to do with another issue I've been having my computer.

You gotta open it and add your haloce exe file

Oh I did not do that at first. I tried it and placed the game in the enabled games category then when I opened up Halo Custom Edition the options were no longer greyed out but there was no sound. Even worse, in Halo Combat Evolved I get an exception error upon opening the game.
-
So I guess there is no way to enable it on your sound card then.
-
Try using: realtek 3d soundback it does the same as alchemy but for realtek onboard sound cards.
-
Yeah Realtek 3d worked for me, as I use Realtek drivers

I checked my computer and it uses realtek sound so that is good. I tried to run the setup.exe but the application wouldn't appear and also attempted using compatibility mode to no avail. My computer ended up having errors whenever I tried to update my drivers too.
-
Run it in vista compatability mode and as admin.
-
I've tried administrator mode and the same effect occurred where after opening the setup.exe I'm asked to install and then nothing happens. No error diagnostic appears either.
-
Did you set the vista compatability mode?
-
Yes, there were options for viewing in 256 colors, different screen resolutions etc which I tried all of but didn't help run the program.
