R.I.P HALO
« on: 04 April 2014, 02:31:05 »
The day has came which most halo players have been dreading for years.

GameSpy will stop hosting for Halo / HaloCE servers. This means you will no longer be able to go onto the server list.

According to the GameSpy website 'Effective May 31, 2014, GameSpy will cease providing all hosting services for all games still using GameSpy.'

So why is this a bad thing? Well, a huge part of gaming is playing with other people, and without being able to see which servers are populated, no one will play. There will be no more laggy Mexicans, no more noobs, no more fun. New players will not see any servers so will not bother playing. You will also have to know the IP address for every server you will want to play in.

Halo has had a good life guys. But unless someone does something drastic soon, halo will die within the next 6 months. I can not imagine even 1/8th of the people playing today playing without the lobby. I've seen how quickly other games die without the most basic server browser. It's going to be a horrific end to what I can only class as my favourite FPS ever.

RIP HALO - thank you for the memories.

I'm sure that someone will do something. Even Halo trial has a mod with a new master server (from what I heard).

As they solved ps2 issues with games like Project: Snowblind with a 3rd party program, I'm pretty sure they someone will gain courage to do something against this, or solve the problem.

Or, we have to make a page, something like "Halo servers.. Name | IP"
So retards are kinda left out from that idea, which I support.

Also, with HAC2 you can copy, and even bookmark servers, so... that's an option too

I hope that's just an april fools' joke, with a distyped date, or something like that
PVP Whore - Refers to a player who's near soul purpose in the game environment is the uberpwn destruction of other players.

There are only a hand full of people who are capable of solving this problem.  On top of that, there's only a handful of people who could put it into action. I have big doubts.

Yes, but that will require everyone to install a modification to the game.
A lot of players won't know that and we will lose tons of players because of this.

The best solution is to keep the gamespy system running or have an official solution.
I'm trying to get in to contact with gamespy to see if we can take over their services.

Anyway some guy just asked me to sign this:

Might just as well sign it  ;)

We should spread the word by contacting gaming news websites (for example ign) and newspapers.

I've already submitted this to a Dutch IT news site which also posted about the gamespy shutdown.

WITH HIGHEST REGARDES TO ALL THOSE GUYS OUT THERE THIS IS {XG}Hades

Yeah. Thanks for the news, hades, but (completely off topic) i'm afraid you can't use our clan nametag ({XG}) until you correctly fill up an application form and (IF) get accepted.
